Week 18 – The Elisha Project

The apostles walked with Jesus for 3 years in His earthly ministry and yet had no FIRE!
There is a story in Matt 17:19 where the disciples could not cast out a demon from a boy So Jesus stepped in and did it. In there questioning of Jesus they were a bit disturbed at this public failure.  Because they had in the past cast out demons having been giving that power by Jesus. You see…They were relying on their own power/fire and not God’s.
It is good for us to distrust our own strength; and ourselves but it is displeasing to Christ when we distrust any power derived from him, or granted by him.
They believed that they had their own fire.  But the fire that we seek does not come from men but from God.
And at that point that fire could not descend on them because they were still in their SIN.
Are you like them…asking why your prayers are unanswered? Why your life is in disarray? Are you wondering why it is easier to draw closer to the world than it is to God?
