About Us

From 1 Family
to 150,000 families

Through service, sharing, teaching, and learning, the ELISHA project (EP) aims to impact all communities positively.

Founded by one family to meet people where they are and help them, EP is now helping thousands of people. Using skills learned from military service, the corporate sector, and the streets of New York & California, the Ortiz family began to design a way to serve people in need regardless of where they lived.

As many residents went hungry, we saw food wasted in Rhode Island fourteen years ago. As a result of rescuing end-of-day bread from a local deli, meats from a local university, pastries from a local bakery, and vegetables from a local supermarket, millions of pounds of food have been saved and distributed throughout the Northeast, Florida, Houston, Pakistan, Mexico, and Guatemala.

Designing a project that served people while maintaining their DIGNITY was important. This was not the reality we encountered during our moments of desperation. Those experiences shaped the foundation of our ideology. We envisioned ourselves as the struggling single mother striving to provide for her children, the father juggling two jobs, the elderly individuals striving to make ends meet, and the homeless veteran fighting for survival. We also recognized the countless individuals we encounter on the streets every day.

We owe our progress to the many who have paved the way for a blueprint centered around selfless acts and fostering unity.

We at EP, are unable to turn a blind eye to the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and neighbors who inhabit our world, and that includes you.

Join us in dedicating yourself fully, embracing love for all, and living a service life. We challenge you to take this step. It will change your life.
