EP Food Rescue Program

We work with food distributors who donate a certain amount of their products that are either close to expiration, or not selling well. We take those products and repurpose it by pairing them with one of our meals that we share with people in need.

We designed a delivery model that ranges from direct delivery to mass feedings utilizing outdoor grills, crockpots, and brown bag lunches. We plan to involve every single entity that is interested in reducing their waste and increasing the number of people being fed.

HOW EP FOOD RESCUE STARTED

In 2014, we started working with a food distributor who would donate a certain amount of their product that was either close to expiration or wasn’t doing well. We would then take the product and REPURPOSE it by pairing it with one of the meals that we SHARE with people in need.

In 2017, we teamed up with several restauranteurs in Rhode Island and Massachusetts to include a bakery, grocery store, gourmet pizza, Indian-themed restaurant, bagel shop, doughnut shop, national steakhouse, and a Mexican-themed burrito house.

We designed a plan that works for them and us. This includes regularly scheduled pickups of product that meets the criteria stated above…we find new homes amongst people who are suffering from food scarcity. Our delivery model ranges from direct delivery to mass feedings utilizing outdoor grills, crockpots, and brown bag lunches. And we are only at the first rung of the ladder. We plan to involve every single entity that is interested in reducing their waste and increasing the number of people being fed.

So how does one get involved?
